Age and ageing

I used to call this page "Middle-aged. With attitude." Even though I thought it was pretentious. Because that's what this blog was about when I started it.

I had the name Older than Elvis before then: when I was 43, obviously. (Elvis didn't live to be 43; I did.)

I was nearly 50 by the time I started the blog and I'd only just got used to calling myself middle-aged. Now, I think I have to get used to "late middle age" to be more accurate.

I could do the "18 in the head" thing and pretend age doesn't matter. But it does. Because ageing affects how you see the world, and how the world sees you.

So I'm writing about life and death, about the dark art of demographics, and about being a grumpy old woman. Plus the occasional mid-life crisis. I hope you find something to identify with.
